Son of a famous and successful film producer R.B. Choudhary, Jiiva is the youngest of four brothers in the family. He grew up very close to his brother Ramesh who is also an actor. His original name was Amar but borrowed his brother Jeevan's name and shortened it to Jiiva when he entered the film industry.
He is a self confessed computer and electronics buff. He is a talented cricket player and was an athelete during his school days.
He grew up wanting to be a technician and work behind the camera focus on animations.
He is married to his childhood sweetheart Supriya who was his best friend from school days.
